Analytics in practice: Evidence from organisational and societal contexts

Presenter: Anastasia Griva
Date: 24 February 2026

Abstract

This presentation explores how analytics shape decision-making in real organisational and societal contexts. It draws on two examples: an industry-based analytics collaboration with Intel’s R&D centre, where internal data were analysed to challenge assumptions about requirements quality and performance; and an ongoing mixed-methods research that combines qualitative fieldwork with analytics to identify temporal rhythms in digital news production. Across these contexts, I demonstrate how data-driven analysis uncovers hidden patterns, challenges managerial assumptions, and shows how analytics influence organisational decision-making and behaviour. Framed around this research theme, the presentation also offers an integrated view of my academic work in AI and analytics across research, teaching, and leadership activities.
